SORRY AUSSIES, THERE'S NO SUCH THING AS A NORTHERN BLUEFIN TUNA
I caught my first northern bluefin tuna 20-some years ago, off northernmost Australia's Cape York peninsula.

BIDEN BANS SWORDFISH DRIFT GILL NETS IN US
I'll be right upfront: I'm not a fan of legislative riders, where an issue unrelated to the major piece of legislation gets attached as a way of getting it passed.

WHY DO SMALLER FISH TASTE BETTER?
Small fish eat better than big ones. I've heard that statement about so many fish species: redfish, black drum, grouper, mackerel, bluefish, and the list goes on.

THESE TWO FISH WILL HURT YOU
Scorpaenidae is a huge family worldwide, with several hundred species in all, many of them found around the US. Those species range from the beautiful (lionfish) to the interesting (scorpionfish, including the California sculpin) to the truly hideous (stonefish).

Go Big or Go Home
Try live-baiting with oversize offerings such as Spanish mackerel or lobster. It's not as crazy as it sounds.

Is There a Dark Side to Bright Lines?
\"By the time they get close enough to see line color, they are likely already ignoring it.' \" - David A. Ross, Ph.D.

TEQUILA TIME
This fiery spirit is ready for its turn in the sun. As a general rule, tequilas produced with agave from the lowlands and valleys of Mexico are big and bold, with herbal, floral, citrus, and earthy aromatics and flavors, while tequilas from the mountainous highlands tend to be a bit softer, more delicate, and a little sweeter. There are three categories: Tequila blanco-also called silver tequila-is unaged; reposados are aged from two months to one year in oak barrels; and añejos are aged from one to four years. All three styles are exceptionally sippable either straight up or in an elegant cocktail such as a paloma. Salud!
