Pressure washers make it easy to freshen up your outdoor space. But with prices ranging from £50 up to £500, knowing which machine will work best for you can be challenging. They can be used on most surfaces including concrete, wood, decking, cement, new brick, and plastic and metal outdoor furniture. However, don't use a pressure washer on delicate surfaces such as windows and old bricks.
Measured in litres per hour, the flow rate refers to how much water can pass through the machine and gives a good indication of the speed at which your pressure washer will rinse and clean surfaces. A high flow rate is considered to be around 420 litres per hour. The pressure in your machine is measured in bars or PSI. For medium-duty cleaning, 110-130 bar, along with high flow rate, should do the job.
The average lifespan of a pressure washer depends on how frequently you use it. To maximise lifespan, avoid machines that have pumps made of less durable materials such as plastic and opt for a long-lasting metal one instead. The motor is important too; brushed motors are intended for less frequent pressure washing, whereas induction motors are great for longer periods of use.
