THIS GRENADIAN ENTREPRENEUR HAS TURNED HER FAMILY'S SPICE ESTATE INTO A PLACE TO DISCOVER ISLAND HERITAGE, CULTURE AND FLAVOURS
VIVIENNE DOVI
Tricia Simon

After 25 years in Canada, Tricia Simon moved back to Grenada in 2020 to take over her family's Mount Parnassus Estate. But she faced a challenge: how to transform the 19th-century spice plantation into a meaningful experience for visitors. Building on the legacy of her greatgrandfather, who purchased the 100-acre estate in the 1970s, she launched health and wellness tours in 2023, with the aim of celebrating the Caribbean island's strong history of spice and cocoa cultivation. Tricia takes travellers into nature, exploring traditional farming and local produce, and inviting guests to try a tea ceremony and farm-to-table meal of Grenadian cocoa stew. Her tours offer a refreshing and immersive perspective on Grenadian heritage that's rarely highlighted in mainstream conversations.
