Bob Uecker was never afraid to laugh at himself. His sense of humor endeared him to millions and earned him a place of reverence in the game, making his Mr. Baseball moniker entirely fitting.

So there was an outpouring of love for Uecker when his death at age 90 was announced on Jan. 16. Born and raised in Milwaukee, he died in nearby Menomonee Falls, Wis.

"Bob was the genuine item: always the funniest person in any room he was in, and always an outstanding ambassador for our national pastime," MLB commissioner Rob Manfred said in a statement.
