"When I decided to downsize after my divorce and move into an apartment, I knew it would be an adjustment—especially for my cat, Marty, who had loved watching the birds in our backyard.
"Our new home was on the third floor and he rarely came out from under the bed once we moved in. He got very anxious when my super, Don, came to put in a new disposal.
"As Don and I chatted, I ended up telling him how poor Marty missed his view of the birds. 'Hang on a minute!' Don said and went to his van. Five minutes later, he came back in carrying a carpeted cat tree. 'I make and sell these, but I'd like to make it a welcome home gift,' he said with a smile as my heart soared. Now, Marty has the best bird-watching perch and purrs the day away!"
