POP star Taylor Swift was booed at the Super Bowl, and Donald Trump triumphantly declared the reaction was from his supporters.

But most pundits said she was, in fact, jeered by Philadelphia Eagles fans as she was there to support their opponents the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Chiefs suffered an unexpected thrashing at the glittering sporting event in the US. Taylor and Trump have a history of tension.

The president, who also attended the game, wrote on his social media platform Truth Social: "The only one that had a tougher night than the Kansas City Chiefs was Taylor Swift."

And referring to his Make America Great Again supporters, he added: "She got BOOED out of the Stadium. MAGA is very unforgiving!"

In September during the run-up to the US election, Taylor endorsed Trump's opponent Kamala Harris.

Taylor said at the time: "I'm voting for Kamala Harris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them."

Trump later said on Truth Social: "I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!"

When her appearance on the megascreen during the Super Bowl provoked boos from some Eagles fans, US star Taylor, 35, had a brief look of surprise before she smiled.

By contrast, Trump received enthusiastic applause when he was shown on the big screen during the US national anthem.

The huge event in New Orleans, Louisiana, was a star-studded affair.

Tennis legend Serena Williams, 43, was a special guest during the half-time show by rapper Kendrick Lamar, 37.

Hollywood star Samuel L Jackson, 76, was dressed as Uncle Sam as he introduced Kendrick to the stage.
