Kate, top to toe in red, arrived with Prince William at the annual Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey yesterday.

They got there just before the King and Queen and were also joined by Princess Anne and the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, as well as a 2,000-strong congregation.

Kate and the King were absent from the service last year after they were both diagnosed with cancer within weeks of each other.

The Princess revealed this year she is now in remission and is making a gradual return to royal duties. After arriving at the ceremony, which honours the 56 nations that make up the Commonwealth, the royals greeted each other warmly.

Kate, in a Catherine Walker coat, curtsied to Camilla, in a pink Fiona Clare dress, while William kissed his father on the cheek.

It was the second time the King and Kate have gone to the same event since their health battles, having both attended the Remembrance Sunday service last year.
