CYRIEL DESSERS has lifted the lid on the emotional wringer Rangers' dressing room has been through in a few tumultuous days.
And despite emerging from the darkness to reach the 20goal mark, the Rangers hitman admits hed instantly trade the landmark number for a trophy.
Dessers made an immediate impact for interim boss Barry Ferguson with two secondhalf strikes to turn the tide at Kilmarnock on Wednesday.
The 30-year-old ensured Ferguson emerged from a catastrophic opening 15 minutes on his first night at the helm to claim a 4-2 victory.
It was a roller-coaster start for the gaffer and a moment of not just joy but relief at fulltime for the players.
Signed by Michael Beale in the summer of 2023, Dessers watched that gaffer slam through the exit door.
Replaced by Philippe Clement, the Belgian got his jotters in the wake of desperate home losses to Queen's Park and St Mirren.
Having admitted the players had been letting down fans plus the club as Clement left, Dessers and the squad had to quickly grasp the situation as they headed for Rugby Park.
The striker was asked about his old gaffer's sacking and said: "It's always tough because people talk a lot about football but we also see the human side.
"And that's really tough and emotional for everybody.
