The German took over at Fir Park last week as he was hired to replace Stuart Kettlewell.
But had things worked out differently, he'd currently be sitting at the Memorial Ground managing the Pirates in England's League One.
Wimmer was all set to take over at Rovers in December before the ex-Austria Vienna coach saw the move collapse due to work-permit red tape.
It was a bitter blow for someone desperate to try their luck in the UK.
Thankfully, his application for the Well job went through smoothly and he was able to sign up to lead the Steelmen.
Wimmer - who kicked off his Fir Park reign with a 1-0 defeat to Dundee United on Saturday - said: "I'm a person who takes the situation how it is. I can't change the past. I'm here now and I'm really happy to be here.
"During my time after Vienna, I watched many games. And together with my assistant Ahmet Koc, we flew often to the UK to watch League One, to watch Championship, to watch Premier League, because I have coached many players there.
