MICHELLE Mone was at the centre of a secrecy row last night after the UK Covid Inquiry ruled that evidence on a £200million PPE firm linked to her will be kept under wraps.
Inquiry chair Baroness Hallett imposed restrictions after claiming there was a risk to criminal proceedings if "sensitive evidence" is heard in public.
Glasgow-born Baroness Mone initially denied involvement in PPE Medpro, which was awarded £203million in Covid contracts. The Ultimo lingerie founder later admitted lying and it was shown she and husband Doug Barrowman, who led the firm, stood to benefit by tens of millions of pounds.
PPE Medpro was referred to the so-called "VIP lane" after Mone, a Tory life peer in the House of Lords, recommended the firm to the Conservative government.
