I swak Singh is a recluse.
He's naturally shy in real life and hence takes time to open up in an interview. But when he starts speaking, it's like a dam has opened up.
Once he has warmed up to you, the conversation flows freely. His role of a mute person in the spy drama Berlin has won him accolades all around. The Delhi boy beams when you mention that. I'm beyond thrilled with the appreciation for Berlin," he says, his voice brimming with enthusiasm. "This role is unlike anything I've done before. Playing a deaf and mute character who's also a terror suspect and a spy was a oncein-a-lifetime chance. The complexity of portraying such a dark, multifaceted figure was both a huge challenge and an incredible opportunity to push my limits as an actor." He pauses, reflecting on the preparation required for this role. "When I first got the offer, I was juggling several other projects. So whenever I had a free moment, I'd turning his journey into a personal battle that pushed him to do or die." After Paatal Lok came Rocket Boys which further cemented his place in the industry. The actor has seen many ups and downs. Though he isn't bitter about his struggle and is attend classes, work with a trainer. Honestly, it became my stress buster. I had a lot of faith in the director, Atul Sabharwal. He's an acclaimed writer and director. Also, the script was one of the best I've ever read. That gave me the confidence to dive in." Looking back at his career, Ishwak identifies several milestones. but none more significant than Paatal Lok. "It was the game-changer. We thought it would be a niche show, but we didn't anticipate the mass appeal it would receive. The audience really connected with it.
And now Season 2 has helped me solidify my place in the industry." His character's death midway through the Paatal Lok Season 2 came as a shock to the viewers. Talking about it, the actor gets emotional.
