Mondays are always the most dreaded day of the week except for this particular Monday on May 23. As I boarded my flight to Dubai 'Monday Blues' were far from what I felt, as I was riddled with childlike glee for the adventure that was waiting for me in Ras Al-Khaimah. Now, for those who personally know me are privy to the fact that I share a very complex relationship with adrenaline inducing activities. I am always fearful of indulging in such experiences however, after the feeling of pride and the dizzying rush of adrenaline makes me feel incomparable joy. So, I am going to take you through what was the most adventurous day of my year, so far.
JEBEL JAIS
That morning my life felt symbolic of the phrase "the calm before the storm". As I sat relishing my delicious breakfast in my hotel, I looked onto the scenic stillness of the ocean in front of me. As much as I tried to prepare myself mentally and physically for the day ahead, my mind was reluctant to fixate on anything apart from the beautiful view. The journey to Jebel Jais was filled with me craning my neck out of the car's window to marvel at the sheer magnificence of the surrounding mountains. The winding road progressively increased in altitude and each time my ears popped a wave of fear and excitement (both in equal proportions) lapped over me. Jebel Jais is a mountain situated in the northwestern Hajar range. The cloud-piercing mountain range extends from Ras Al-Khaimah on the eastern side of the United Arab Emirates to the Musandam Peninsula on the northeastern side of Oman. The dramatic mountainscapes have now become the hub of life-altering and adrenaline-pumping adventures and experiences.
