Asimov's Science Fiction - September/October 2021

ãã®åé¡ã§
The September/October 2021 issue brings us two blockbuster novellas! In Greg Eganâs thrilling new tale, a young man must escape an angry mob to learn the secret of âSleep and the Soul.â Elizabeth Bear delivers multiple enigmas and a tense murder mystery in âAâBlessing of Unicornsâ
Our annual slightly spooky issue has a few stories that are evocative of movies or have movie themes. Jason Sanford brings us âThe Dust of Giant Radioactive Lizardsâ; the fifties film ambiance continues with new to Asimovâs author MichÚle Laframboiseâs campy âShooting at Warnerâs Bayâ and James Van Peltâs âThe Bahnhof Drive-In.â Circumstances are not quite as they first appear in S. Qiouyi Luâs outré depiction of âYour Luminous Heart, Bound in Redâ; and the advantages of âMatriphagyâ by Naomi Kanakia are considered from the viewpoint of a vested party. Peter Wood attempts to stem âThe Apocalypse and the Lake Mattamuskeet Gnatâ; Mercurio D. Rivera terrifies us with an offworld tale about âFilamentsâ; Rick Wilber thrills us with an alternate history story about World War II and âBillie the Kidâ; while, in his deeply moving tale, new to Asimovâs author Wole Talabi examines âAn Arc of Electric Skin.â Our September/October issue will also feature James Gunnâs last story. We are proud to publish this beautifully told tale of âSingular Days.â
Robert Silverbergâs Reflections column wings us through the âRoc of Agesâ; James Patrick Kellyâs On the Net considers the âDismalâ science; Norman Spinradâs On Books explores âThe Future of the Futureâ in works by Ben Bova & Doug Beason, Brandon Q. Morris, and Kim Stanley Robinson; plus weâll have an array of poetry and other features youâre sure to enjoy. Look for our September/October 2021 issue on sale at newsstands on August 17, 2021.
